it's time to revive my blog which has been dead for a long long time! last post dated feb 28, that's like half a year minus one day! (actually i wanted to post when i got back but somehow whenever i clicked the 'compose' tab it wouldnt load so i couldnt make new posts). and also, my internet is finally back after close to 2 weeks! to cut a long story short, we're all immensely annoyed with a certain company (***g***) because: 1. they sent a technician down a few days after we reported, and after checking, he said it was an external problem and the ANO (some external people in case of the underground cables) would have to arrange with us, and so we waited 2. and we waited until we couldnt take it and called ***g*** instead 3. customer service was bad (no surprise here), apparently they didnt have a clear, concrete record of what was wrong/report from the technician so they kept asking us over and over. mom and i called consecutively for 3 days before dad had to call too 4. arranged to send senior technician down after 1.5 weeks to 'diagnose the problem' 5. on the day itself he was too busy and ended up postponing 2 days later (i mean okay he fixed it in the end but on hindsight, if he didnt, it would only have prolonged the problem) i dont think im an unreasonable paying customer, but dont you agree 2 weeks to fix an internet related problem was just too long? and guess what the problem was? our router was connected in such a way that two routers were linked to one line. and if (quoting the technician) one spoils, the other will be affected too. so like, we know that our neighbour's line spoilt because she got the technicians to come down on the day itself. so if they knew that ours would be spoilt too since their stupid setup made it such, why didnt they just service ours at the same time. AND why did they even have this stupid system in the first place? lack of resources? i have no idea and i dont wish to know. at least now we have our own line. on another note, summer is over, forever! maybe i shld have taken a trip somewhere after korea but resources wise (time too) would have been a problem. already spent too much in korea :| five mods this sem, all of which im enjoying pretty much. it's a good balance where not all the modules are hardcore though of course it's hard to say now since it's only week 2. projects are all gonna come in soon. doing my ethics readings that day made me think about the question most philosiphers ponder over 'is something right or wrong because God commands it?' of course we had a lively debate over this in class. amazing how much thought goes into what people write in their papers.

HELLO FOLKS :Djust to let those ppl whom i havent spoken to on msn know that i'm alive and well! the first few days were hard cos i was kinda alone and staying outside, but now that ive moved into dorm things are much better! the room's not bad, roomie's great, made new friends and all. shopping has been great too! :) have yet to unpack and put everything nicely but it's quite a chore. last night i had to sleep with a makeshift pillow cos they somehow didnt have pillows in our dorm (me and roomie both!) but now they actually got us new pillows! so new they are still in their vacuum pack ;) i somehow lost my pencil case though, in btwn moving from the guesthouse to here. not sure if it's somewhere in my luggage but ive searched my backpack and handbag and it's not in there! for those who dont know, it's acutally already 1.10am here cos seoul is 1h earlier than singapore. luckily i managed to configure my wireless (with the help of my new found friends) so i dont have to go downstairs to the lab to access internet. can enjoy the warmth of the room :) and now to post a few pictures which ive yet to preview on facebook. sneak peak, specially for blog readers only hahaha. kimbap at one of the eating places in school which is famous for kimbap new found friends enjoying the welcome dinner :) my room! mine's on the left side diy dinner, with noodles (instant and glass), egg, fish cake, leeks and other stuff which i cant rmb. all in a spicy sauce. pretty sleepy now, must have been from all the walking and shopping today! missing you guys back at home! <3 eliz shared a cookie at Sunday, February 07, 2010

got my flight booked: 22feb 2350 got my travel insurance got accommodation for 3 days before dorm check-in date got my dorm housing arrangement havent got my room cleaned up havent got my haircut (maybe i shld just cut it in korea) i guess the 1mth since ive been back has been a dream for many, being able to have the time to do what i want. like an extended holiday :) (dont be jealous y'all!) got my dorm arrangement on friday, didnt get the ihouse but got grad dorm instead, and the official check-in date is on the 26th. no earlier! unlike for ihouse where official date is 24 and we can check in earlier. so had to book a hostel elsewhere for 3 days, of which i booked http://www.hostelseoulkorea.com/index.html Hong's Guesthouse situated near Hongdae area. it's a good location, and rather near to ewha too. just that they had no more single rooms so i double booked a double room. but hey, i get a whole double bed TO MYSELF :p courses not confirmed yet, have to confirm there. i dunno, now that i have about 2 weeks left in singapore, i'm starting to feel sad yet happy. stupid right, considering that many would kill to be in my position. no qualms about being in a foreign land alone, but i guess it's not the same. also, cheryl and i combed the entire orchard road stretch from far east to ion to wisma, taka, somerset 313, central, ps and even raffles city and citylink but didnt find anything! shopping wise that is. kinda sad, is it just the current trend or have we grown out of shopping forever? hope it's not the latter! sis found a job at c_ _co (yep if you guessed it right, it's located at paya lebar), basically they are supposed to be part-timers or based on assignment basis. the most cool part is that she went back to work on both sat and sun (normal office hours mind you) and from what i heard she wont be getting the 1.5x normal ppl get for working OT. i think it's ridiculous, but she says that's her contract. but still! i shant comment so much, since im not in any position to do so. eliz shared a cookie at Wednesday, January 13, 2010

it's been about a mth since i updated! somehow didnt feel the motivation to blog, been so busy in december! but things are better now, so i shld update i guess (for the few who read my blog hahaha).anyway, it's 2010! new year new start. 2009 was an eventful year, ups and downs but it'll be a memorable one for sure. looking forward to 2010, with more exciting things to come :) it's already started with me having gone for lasik and regaining perfect eyesight! imagine that i havent been off specs since pri4. it's just crazy, i feel like im wearing contacts all the time. still in recovery mode since it's only day I after the surgery, but already i can see clearly. just that i need to put 3 types of eyedrops every hour and sleep with eyeguards. and cant let any water get into my eyes for a week so no washing face by splashing water and i have to be reallie careful when i wash my hair. holidays in dec were fun. perth was pretty cold when we touched down but it got warmer and warmer, in true essence of summer. i was sick at the start of the trip, yes the coldest part, so it was pretty miserable with running nose and puffy eyes. ate alot of good stuff cos of the great milk, cheese, dairy products like yogurt and ice cream. although margaret river was a pretty quiet place, with only one street lined with shops (and basically that's considered the town). spent my 21st there, at one of the few restaurants, which wasnt too bad :) snapshots - and then to hk, where i spent about 4 days with my family 92 in hk, 2 in shenzhen) and then met up with my besties after. the trip was tiring overall cos we packed quite alot of travelling and the itinerary was made to go as many places as possible. lacked sleep which i came back and recharged haha. but it was fun! basically, it hink out of all the times i went to hk, i never ever covered that much ground. and by foot mind you, hahaha. weather was good too, started cold and ended warm. the day we went to ocean park was so sunny and it was possible to wear short sleeve and shorts, but of course we didnt prepare for that so i was feeling kinda hot in my tights and jacket. it was madness crowding at avenue of stars on the 31st to wait for the fireworks, madness making our way back by train. and shopping on new year's day in mong kok was mad crowded as well, but we discovered a shopping centre with tons of little shops inside. and great bargains too! immigration at macau was a crazy 45mins wait, while the whole place was just brimming with tourists. ocean park was (as said earlier) hot, sunny and as one ang mo guy said 'a chinese invasion'. too many chinese tours. but my first time on an upside down roller coaster, (smaller) viking ship, and taking the mine train twice. hahaha. had such fun, totally enjoyed myself, wont ever regret having made the decision to go :) :) eliz shared a cookie at Sunday, December 06, 2009

this week has been a blast, met up with different groups of friends and it was great catching up! plus i got back some of my grades and i passed my driving too! overall it's been a happy week and i almost cant ask for more.i guess last night's incident kinda marred it, but im just praying that the taxi driver will be a honest one. what i left behind means alot to me, and im so sad now. it's my fault, no doubt about it. feeling a sense of loss now. flying to perth tml morning, gonna be there till next tues. till then, see you guys! eliz shared a cookie at Wednesday, December 02, 2009

exams are over! since thursday actually, been having a great time since then. i think it's virtually impossible to see any decrease in weight at the rate im pigging out. and australia soon! anyway i think i studied more effectively this sem, maybe it's got to do with all the mods being 'reading-heavy' mods. it's the first sem where i dont actually need to calculate anything or even use calculator during the exam! which suits me fine hahaha, cos my calculator is out of batt anyway. hoping that i can somewhat pull my GPA up since i'll only have one more sem to do it when im back from exchange. had such a lack of planning for mom's bday on sunday. i hate it when birthdays fall in exam period cos i dont have time to plan! (that includes my sis 18th bday too, and i went to work on the exact day). wanted to go to rider's cafe which everyone's been talking about, but when i wanted to book on the morning itself they said they dont take last min bookings. oh well, dad says it's their loss. and hua mulan sucks, DO NOT WATCH IT. less than an hour into the movie i felt like just leaving, but my whole family was there so i had to sit through the agony of lousy plot and bad filming. spoilers ahead: 1. they found out she's a girl near the start of the show instead of right at the end 2. she only has a father, and he's old and sick instead of him being an old general 3. the main male lead was a wei prince in disguise instead of him just being a general in war 4. the wei prince married the rouran princess instead of marrying mu lan (this must be the crappiest bit cos it made it a sad ending eventually) so what does it tell you? even after everything, you might not get your man. hoho. ps: im having imsomnia and i cant sleep. it's such a pain lying there and trying so hard to sleep. sigh. eliz shared a cookie at Tuesday, November 17, 2009

keep having the urge to rant somewhere. UGH i can barely fit into the white shorts which i last wore in the beginning of the year. WHICH JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH WEIGHT I PUT ON DURING SUMMER. omg, how depressing! i took my flu jab and H1N1 vaccine in a span of a week. two injections, which is gonna be followed with the blood test once im psychologically ready. on another note, my travel plans for dec have been finalized! 7-15dec: Perth 26dec-5jan: HK end feb-mid june: Korea :) but first, to get past these 2 weeks! ps: go watch My Girlfriend is an Agent, it's hilarious! eliz shared a cookie at Thursday, November 12, 2009

it's hard to imagine that my official sem has ended, so im left with study break and finals for now! and to think that since the korea term starts on mar 2 im gonna have no official lessons till then. it just hit me yesterday. just imagine that.on a side note, i need to get myself certified free from Hep B and tuberculosis AND I NEED TO GET A BLOOD TEST PLUS CHEST X-RAY. those who know me know that i've this great phobia of blood tests. maybe if they have anaesthetic it'll help. im afraid of the pain plus the sight of it. i need to get it done soon though :( my small sis went to shanghai for a school trip this morning! two weeks of not seeing her. woke up at 4am to send her off, came back to continue sleeping and ended up oversleeping for work. speaking of work, gonna be on a two week hiatus to concentrate on exams! firsts this week: 1. went to mustafa (okay i know almost everyone has gone in before. i guess it was eye opening to see the amount of SHOES they had stacked all over) 2. bought a li ning product for presentation (white $20 cap with li ning logo) 3. tried the nasi lemak at ion's basement food court (following jo's post) was it worth the $6? honestly i dont like the fried fish but when i asked to substitute, there was no way i could substitute it, other than pay $3.30 for another portion of meat. which is darned ridiculous. anyway the sambal was quite okay, the rest of stuff was just so so. i guess i can get better nasi lemak at $2? apparently there's one at kovan market i shld go try. and to showcase something i created this week which was blasted out to the school: fully subscribed in a matter of days! going to relax and prep myself for the final sprint ahead. 2 days of fun, and then the mugging begins! eliz shared a cookie at Tuesday, November 10, 2009

just wondering, why do ppl find ang mo babies so much cuter than non-ang mo babies? it's amazing how so many people can be smiling and gazing at the ang mo baby even though he's making tons of noise. if say that were a chinese baby, i wonder if ppl would still be doing the same. personally, i found that ang mo baby irritating but anyway, that's my personal take. happy week 13 eliz shared a cookie at Thursday, November 05, 2009

closure (almost)it's amazing how the sem went by so fast. it's already week 12 and week 13's the last week of official lessons. before study break and the dreaded finals. concluded my vdm mod already since all the deliverables have been submitted and presentation over on tues. just left with the other groups presenting next week. on a side note, im wondering how did i ever think i could do well in finance, with the numbers and calculations and all. thinking back, i mean it's a good thing that i wanted to do finance which got me into smu business in the first place. i guess finance wasnt (or isnt) reallie my thing, so thank goodness i changed to marketing and comms cos im enjoying this sem so much better and i dont need to get myself all worked up over theories, concepts and calculations. at least marcomms gives me a chance to do well in what i do best, but fin was like, if you're wrong means you're wrong. no grey area, no chance to explain. just based on cold hard facts. not saying that i like to fluff and stuff but well, i guess alot of ppl are better at numbers than i am so i shld just leave it to them :) went over to desaru on sunday with my colleagues. a short day trip which started late, got stuck in traffic, and ended up reaching home at about 1am. but it was fun yet tiring, even though we did nothing but sit in the car and eat basically. and talk alot of nonsense in the car. and i can somewhat see why they said you know ppl better when you're in the usual setting aka office setting. it helps! lunch at ah soon bak kut teh. just over at sentosa in johor. that's the ma you ji, plus there was the real authentic malaysian ba kut teh which i didnt capture (the prob with too many cameras around). the food was great, although the place was damn freaking warm. actually the whole of malaysia seems to be that warm most of the time :| mom said we wont ever stopover in johor cos that's where most singaporeans get mugged so oh well. i think my mom can cook almost similiar bak kut teh so that's not an issue. the desaru ostrich farm ! we spent like an hour there i think, after forgoing the tour at the fruit farm. since ive been to the ostrich farm before i guess it was okay. pretty dirty and sandy and more or less the same thing, except that it was egg laying season when we went. so.. next picture ! holding the freshly laid egg ! i mean, have you ever seen a chicken lay an egg? i guess not. but to think that i saw an ostrich lay an egg. it's like, how did it lay such a big egg? the whole process looked painful though. i got it on video hahaha. and the egg is still warm when you hold it. we had a great seafood dinner at jade garden, lobster and crab and all. was pretty stuffed. and went to see the fireflies; they looked so pretty in the trees, like blinking xmas lights. i tried to take a picture, but it turned out to be nothing but a whole black rectangle. come to think of it, if the boat capsized, or we fell overboard, i dont think anyone would even realise. plus that river/stream looked like it could be filled with alligators or snakes of some sort :| eliz shared a cookie at |
